How to Get a GOD Clone (GGGYYY)
A GOD clone is a plant with perfect genetics — usually GGGYYY. You reach it by planting many wild seeds, crossbreeding the best ones together over a few generations, and cloning the winner so its genes are locked in forever.
GGGYYY vs GGYYYY
GGGYYY (3 Growth, 3 Yield) is the classic god clone: the fastest grow time with high yield, best for maximum resources per hour. GGYYYY (2 Growth, 4 Yield) grows a little slower but yields more per harvest and gives more clones, which some farmers prefer for berries used in bulk. Both are excellent; GGGYYY is the safe default.
Step by step
Getting a god clone from scratch is a numbers game — plant a lot, keep the best, repeat:
- Plant a batch of wild seeds and hover each sapling to read its genes.
- Keep the plants closest to all-green (most G and Y, no W or X) and clone them to preserve those genes.
- Arrange your best clones around a young centre plant so it crossbreeds their good genes together.
- Clone the improved centre plant, then repeat with the new, better clones (generation 2, 3…).
- Once a plant hits GGGYYY, clone it repeatedly — clones are exact copies with no RNG, so your god clone never degrades.
Common mistakes
Leaving empty slots or weak plants next to good ones spreads red genes. Cloning too early (before the sapling stage) is not possible, and waiting too long risks the plant dying before you clone it. And never mix a W or X plant into a breeding grid you care about.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best gene combination in Rust?
GGGYYY — three Growth and three Yield genes — is the best all-round genome. It grows 1.75× faster and yields 1.75× more than a plant with no green genes.
Do clones keep the same genes?
Yes. A clone is an exact genetic copy of its parent with no randomness, so once you have a GGGYYY plant you can clone it forever without losing quality.
